Planning approval and detailed Building Regulations drawings were secured for the conversion of student apartments within the Grade II* listed Langdale Hall, located in Manchester’s Victoria Park Conservation Area. This characterful stone building required a sensitive, conservation-led approach, with the former kitchens and gym carefully reconfigured into student bedrooms supported by high-quality communal facilities, including a games room and cinema. 

Bespoke mezzanine “bed deck” structures were introduced to maximise space and light within the existing volume, while redundant basement cycle storage rooms were transformed into usable studio apartments, enhanced by the introduction of lightwells. Carefully considered upgrades, including new windows, flooring, and insulation, were integrated throughout. Working closely with Bennett Property Contractors and in consultation with the conservation officer, the scheme successfully balances heritage preservation with modern living standards, maximising both space and long-term value for the property owners.
